2022 Steve Steinberg Reporting Award

Valerie reported a 4,000-word bilingual narrative feature on gentrification by digital nomads in Cabarete, Dominican Republic. Her project was closely mentored by former Washington Post editor R.B. Brenner. The piece appeared in the National Association of Hispanic Journalists' palabra. in 2023.
